"Daddy vs. Tattoos"

For my eighteenth birthday, I decided to get a tattoo.
My mom was all aboard and my sister, too!
But there are two very tough critics close to heart,
My dad and my grandmother, who would rip me apart.

I knew if I got another tattoo, my dad would have to know,
But the fear of telling him, is a fear I do not want to show.
He will scold and lecture until the end of time,
About how tattoos are bad, and led to crime.

How do I avoid this fear? How do I tell him?
Do I make a elaborate plan or do it on a whim?
What would I say if he starts to scream and shout?
All this worrying is going to make me break out!

It got silent at dinner, and my dad spoke up,
"What's going on for your birthday, pup?"
My heart drops, and I just look at him and stare,
What do I say? You know what I don't even care!

"I'm getting a tattoo since you asked,
Wasn't sure how to tell you, but I did at last!"
He says, "You know how I feel about tattoos,
But you are wise enough now, you know your views."

I stared at him in awe, did he really just approve?
I can get a tattoo! He didn't disapprove!
My birthday comes and to the shop I go,
My tattoo is done, it hurts now, I'm happy though.

In love with it, I am. It came out better than I thought.
Now showing grandma on Easter, will be another part!
